David “Bliss” Phillips, age 84, of 313 E. Van Buren Street, Ohio, Illinois, died Monday, April 09, 2007, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, IL

Mr. Phillips was born on March 10, 1923, the son of Rodney and Minnie (Thulean) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Christine Underwood on March 10, 1946 in Princeton, Illinois. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Transportation in Highway Maintenance for 14 years, retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his wife Christine of Ohio, Illinois, one daughter Connie (George) Allen of Ohio, Illinois; two sons James (Cathy) Phillips of Hennepin, Illinois, Brad Phillips of Ohio, Illinois; eight grandchildren Kathy Allen, Jenny Heidenreich, Amanda Petersen, Melissa Shepherd, Michelle Transou, Amy Darrah, Joleen Burton, Angela Celaya; 11 great grandchildren, one brother Richard Phillips of Walnut, Illinois; one sister Sue Austin of Princeton, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Ruth Mead and Arva Mead.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 a.m., at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Brian Caughlan, pastor of Hennepin United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after services. Burial of cremains will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN HIS MEMORY TO THE WALNUT MANOR NURSING HOME IN LIEU OF FLOWERS.
