William Russell Spears, age 83, of 204 Glassburn Street Tampico, Illinois died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Good Neighbor Care in Sterling, Illinois.
He was born on December 21, 1926 in Coffey, Missouri, the son of
Orange Lemon and Fannie Catherine (Chambers) Spears.
William was united in marriage on October 13, 1949 to Rosalie Hickman in
Trenton, Missouri. He was in the Army during World War II, worked for National Manufacturing in Sterling for 36 years before his retirement. He enjoyed camping, playing the piano and guitar.
William is survived by his wife Rosalie; one son Bill (Kim) Spears of Pecatonica, Illinois; one daughter Alice (Gene) Dalton of Sterling, Illinois; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, one brother Douglas Franklin (Joyce) Spears of Trenton, Missouri; one sister Mary Catherine (Charles) Price of Trenton, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Judith, one son Lester,
two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 10 AM at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, Illinois with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10 AM at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, Illinois. Condolences may be sent www.garland funeralhome.com.
