Dear Kay, Glenda, & Neal I want to send my sympathy to you and your families during this very difficult time. I wish I had had the opportunity to know your families, I am a descendant of Amelia Vick Kruse as your line is from Bertha Vick Glafka. Again my deepest sympathy in your loss.

My dad used to sit out on his front porch and said you set your watch by when Vance would go to the post office every day. He always had such a bounce in his step. Vance played the organ at my wedding. Dick said I planned everything so he was going to pick the recessional. So we went out on the "Wabash Cannonball"! Vance would always start playing that when he was at the nursing home entertaining the residents when I came in to see Dad. Vance will be missed by many.

Mr. Plapp gave me piano lessons, started me on Saxophone and switched me to playing baritone. He accompanied me on the baritone at my 8th grade graduation when all the county schools came to Steele Gym in Galesburg for the ceremony. I barely knew the notes but he made it sound big. During his time in Altona, we had a community band that included many high school students. It was a privilege to have learned under him. To Kay, Glenda and Nyle we send our sympathy. Kay, do you remember the visits you made to our farm when all we did was 'work'? Maybe I'll see you & Glenda at Lutheran Women's meetings soon. I'll miss your Dad. We enjoyed his most recent attendance at Altona H.S. Reunions. He never aged.
