It was September 1943 when Jan (John) Jilderda told his brother Meindert that he and Hinke (Henrietta) got a third son and that his name was Meindert, after him. My grandfather Meindert Jilderda is 90 years old now and he still remembers that special day . Sitting at his kitchen table, last Thursday, my grandfather remembers he was doing farmwork on a field when his brother Jan came by with horse and wagon to tell him the big news. No doubt little Meindert his first words were frisian words like : heit, mem, pake, beppe and the names of his brothers. When Jan and Hinke and their boys emigrated to America names had to be changed, so Meindert turned into Miner. But we remember Miner here as Meint and Margo. I read on the internet Miner had a rich life: a marriage, children, grandchildren, family, friends. We feel sorry that Miner his life came to an end. The thoughts of the Friesland - Jilderda's are with the American-Jilderda's. Our sincere sympathies, written by Janke Tiemensma ( my grandfather is Meindert Jilderda and my mother was one of Minder 's first cousins ).

Margo, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Miner was a true friend to many, and a mentor to a lucky few. I'll never forget him, and I'm a better person for having known him. He enrichened the lives of everyone he knew. We spent many hours just talking and laughing together, and I'll greatly miss that. I'm so glad I got to visit with him recently, that puts a smile on my face. He had a way of doing that. We often referred to him as Ol' Grumpy, and that made him chuckle. But if you really knew him... he was just the opposite. He loved to tell stories, laugh and carry on, and he loved visiting with his friends. Everyone that knew him, is going to miss him.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting with Miner during my visits to Leone's as a Polaris District Manager. He taught me much as a new rep. and continually "schooled me" whenever I stopped by the shop. It was obvious to me that he was a sincere person who was passionate about his friends, family, snowmobling, racing and "getting it right." I will geniunely miss Miner. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
