James J. Donnelly, age 82, of 24191 2375 East Street Ohio, Illinois died peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Jim was born on April 8, 1928 in Princeton, Illinois the son of Edward M and Catherine “Faley” Donnelly. He attended Franklin Grade School, and graduated from Ohio High School in 1946. He was a military police officer in the United States Army while serving in Italy. Upon his return he was engaged in farming the family farm until his retirement in 1989. He was a life long member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Jim was a man of his word and dearly loved by his many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by two sisters, Shirley Donnelly of Princeton, Illinois, and Joan (Edward) Anderson of Ohio, Illinois; three brothers Frank Donnelly of Princeton, Illinois, Bernard Donnelly of Ohio, Illinois, and Daniel (Isabelle) Donnelly of Chillicothe, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio, Illinois with Rev. Dan Wilder and Rev. Jeff Stirniman co-officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:45 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Cremation rites will be accorded and private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:45 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
