Richard M. Phillips, age 81, formerly of Ohio, Illinois died Sunday February 14, 2010 at the Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut.
Dick was born on August 28, 1928 in Woosung, Illinois, the son of Rodney and Minnie (Thulean) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Katherine Behrens on May 22, 1948 in Princeton, Illinois and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2002. He was employed at Schultz Trucking in Ohio as a truck driver and then at Swanson Trucking in Ohio, Illinois as a mechanic for many years. He was a member of the Ohio United Methodist Church in Ohio where he served as a trustee and was a volunteer fireman on the Ohio Fire Department and a Trustee on the Fire Department.
He is survived by one daughter Barbara (Myron) Hard; one son Gary Phillips both of Princeton, Illinois; one daughter in law Sharon Phillips of Ohio, Illinois; three grandchildren; two great granddaughters; one sister Sue Austin of Princeton, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Michael Phillips, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ohio United Methodist Church with the Rev. Katie Mapes, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
