Janice and Phil, Sorry to hear about your mother. I used to visit with her frequently when I ran into her in Walnut before my mother died, but I had only talked to her a couple of times in the last few years. The last time was last summer when I came back for the reunion when I visited LeRoy in the nursing home. Both your father and mother were always were warm, friendly, and cheerful whenever I meet them. That is except for a couple of visits to the principals’ office when we were in school. Even then, despite your father's stern reputation, it was always clear that he cared for (his) students including me.

The loss of my dear Aunt Eileen brings sadness and sorrow… and also warm memories. I fondly remember riding in the car all the way from Walnut IL to Arlington Heights IL for a family reunion style Thanksgiving at Uncle Bill & Aunt Laura’s house. I sat in the front seat between Aunt Eileen and Uncle Everett – it was a tight squeeze even though I was a little girl. Aunt Eileen was a very special person who I always admired. I’m glad she had a longer life than her youngest sister, Winifred, my mom, did…. Winnie died in 1995 at age 66. So, Aunt Eileen out-lived her by 26 years. Wow, that’s something! My husband, Michael, and I send sincere condolences to the whole family! Please let us know if you plan a Memorial as we will gladly travel to attend. Love, comfort, and blessings, Amy & Michael Williams, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Janice and Phil: I just wanted you to know that your mother was one of my most loved sister-in-law's. She always made me feel comfortable among that large Summers family. She gave me good advice not to worry about our son when he didn't eat his dinner. She said that she always had told Phil to "eat his food" and now look at him. Eileen was very proud of her children and their accomplisments. We are very proud of you too. Even tho we didn't see her every year, We knew she was there. We miss her. Laura

Jan & Phil -- I'm sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I always enjoyed visiting with her at the Manor when I was going to see Dad. He didn't always know me, but she was always reading a book or watching a ballgame on TV and enjoyed having company. We had lots of great conversations. I remember spending lots of time at your house when we were growing up. You have my sincere sympathy.
